I try to get at least 1 tablespoon of flaxseed and 1 tbsp of coconut/olive per day, but most raw oils are very beneficial. I also try to do 2-4 tablespoons of raw nuts and/or seeds per day. In my opinion, whole foods will always be the ideal, but sometimes its hard getting enough calories in. Most people don't get enough healthy fats/oils in their diet. Anytime you have any kind of inflammation/dryness of anywhere/constipation you want loads of good fats, especially omega-3. I do find it hard though trying to get my patients to do the same.
Look up Udo Erasmus on youtube, he knows more about healthy fats than anyone else. And as a result of his long term research, he does not advocate supplementing with fish oil.
